Main Line Taxis have been serving the Harrogate community as a private hire taxi firm since 1981 with over 40 years of experience in the industry, a lot has changed since then but our core values remain the same.

Mainline has grown today to over 100 uniformed drivers in a variety of vehicles, including dedicated disabled vehicles.

We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, charging single time rates 24 hours a day (excl. Christmas and New Year)

Hackney Carriage

  • Private Hire is when an operator takes bookings from customers and passes them on to licensed drivers and vehicles. Private Hire vehicles MUST always be pre-booked and should NEVER be waived down in the street.

    Note: If you undertake a journey in a Private Hire vehicle, which has not been pre-booked, you would not be insured if the vehicle is involved in any incident.

  • A Hackney Carriage is often referred to as a taxi. It can be hired by going to a taxi rank, waved down (or “hailed”) in public streets within the area, in which they are licensed to operate. Hackney Carriages do not need to be pre-booked.

    As a private hire firm, we are NOT licenced to pickup passengers in this way, we advise all our passengers to pre-book via phone or app before entering a private vehicle.

That being said, we recommend always checking thoroughly for all personal items before existing the vehicle as unfortunately Main line Taxis can assume no responsibility for any items left in vehicles.

Yes, you can book a taxi for someone else.

Please specify their name and contact information when booking the ride.

You can’t hail a private hire vehicle in the street for safety and security of both passenger and driver the council requires all private hire journeys to be pre-booked and logged.

You can book a taxi with us whenever you need through our website, mobile app, or by calling our customer service line.

You can pay for your taxi with cash or debit/credit card.

If you’re prepaying with the app it’s possible to pay via Google or Apple Pay.

We also offer contactless payment options in our vehicles for your convenience.

Yes, we offer airport transfers to and from all major airports. Most commonly Leeds/Bradford & Manchester.
